Pioneering Clean Energy for a Sustainable Future

Generation Hydrogen prioritizes finding and developing new sources of clean energy for the energy transition.

They recently acquired the massive Hat Creek coal project in British Columbia, Canada. Their team of experts aims to convert the coal deposit into clean energy, prioritizing environmental protection and cultural sensitivity. The project intends to extract clean energy in the form of hydrogen and electricity to support the global energy transition.

Why Hydrogen is Key to a Sustainable Future

Hydrogen plays a vital role in sustaining life.

Hydrogen is a basic, non-toxic element that plays a vital role in sustaining life. No other energy source is as abundant as hydrogen. When hydrogen combines with oxygen, it produces only water and heat, making it an ideal energy solution for improving air quality and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

High-value End Products

Carbon Free Hydrogen
Ammonia & Fertilizer Feedstocks
FT Liquids & Waxes
Methanol
Plastics
Clean Electricity

The world needs more clean energy options like hydrogen.

According to the IEA’s Net Zero Scenario, only 47% of the total production capacity of hydrogen required by 2050 is currently in progress.

Targets vs. Planned

Transport emissions are increasing.

Despite more efficient vehicles, transport emissions are rising. We must reduce these emissions while meeting growing travel and freight demands.

Hat Creek Hydrogen Resource

In 1877, Dr. George Mercer Dawson discovered a massive coal deposit in Hat Creek Valley, spanning 26 kilometers long, 4 kilometers wide, and 1200 meters thick, with an estimated 10 billion tonnes of coal, including over 700 million tonnes of sub-bituminous B and lignite coal. Despite its potential, the deposit saw limited development. In the late 1970s, BC Hydro conducted drilling, open-pit engineering, assessments, and test mining, followed by a feasibility study by Cominco-Monenco Joint Venture in 1979.
